FUNAYUKI BŌCHŌ   出刃庖丁

Funayuki knife is a Japanese kitchen knife that was traditionally used by fishermen during journeys at sea. Funayuki was used for a variety of different tasks – fish butchering, food preparation, it was apparently even used for occasional cutting of ropes etc. – basically funayuki is a sort of an all-rounder. The word “funayuki” can be translated as “boat trip knife”.

The blade of funayuki is narrower, thinner and lighter than that of a deba knife of the same size.

Funayuki is single bevel knife.
